Aerospace & Defence Logistics – A key topic in New Delhi Summit

Mumbai, India, November 6, 2017: STAT Times, the flagship international publication of STAT Media Group is launching a two day International Summit, ‘Aerospace & Defence-MRO South Asia Summit’ from 18-19, January 2018 at Hotel Taj Mahal, New Delhi.
The main theme of the two-day summit is ‘Make in India-MRO Makes it Happen’. The Make in India programme announced by the Government of India has given a fillip to manufacturing industries especially in the defence sector. India’s defence budget has been on a steady increase and the requirement for defence aircraft has gone up substantially. This necessitates a huge outlay on maintenance, repair and overhaul of these aircraft. The Ministry of Defence is laying emphasis on indigenisation of manufacturing of the maintenance and repair tools for these aircraft. The Defence MRO has so far been captive with a public undertaking, but with the opening up of this sector to the private players, a huge opportunity for the Indian Aviation MRO players is created.
India is now one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world, but there has not been commensurate growth in the Aviation MRO. The Government has realised the lacunae and taken a number of positive measures to encourage Aviation MRO in India.
While the Make in India policy has given a shot in the arm for indigenous manufacturing of components for repair and maintenance, the logistics of reaching the critical tools in time is also very important. These are the aspects of the Aviation MRO industry that will feature in two days’ discussion
To discuss this and other aspects, leaders culled from diverse sections of the aviation and allied industry have already enlisted as speakers. These include leaders from fields of component manufacturing, engineering and maintenance, consultancy, safety, aerospace engineering, operational cost efficiency management, defence aviation and aviation law.
