Born in small village BASI KALAN, Dist Hoshiarpur, Punjab, obtained Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab University, Chandigarh in 1975.
Joined Air India as Graduate Engineer Trainee and got AME licence in 1980.
Worked in Base/Line Maintenance as an AME & Shift-Incharge.
Shifted to Quality Management and headed Quality Department in Air India Express and Air Costa.
41 years of experience in Aviation engineering including 37 years in Air India.
Have done assignments in Singapore, Abh Dhabi & London.
Extensive travel around the globe - 57 countries in 5 continents.
Have made more than 30 presentations in International aviation conferences and seminars in past six years on all aspects of aviation engineering " Maintenance, Quality & Safety Management, Lease Management, Big Data, Data Analytics etc
Headed policy committee and was VP of AEI (Aircraft Engineers International)
Have been nominated as industry expert in following committees formed by Indian government and Directorate General of Civil Aviation:
Aviation Regulations Advisory Panel (ARAP);
State Safety Programme (SSP);
National Aviation safety team (NAST)
